Lead Salad

Lately I've been exploring the creative process under a solo project that I call Lead Salad.

I experiment with sound, music theory, and various production tools and methods to develop an understanding of my musical creative process. The goal is to find a process that works consistently, which I may apply to quickly build a prolific catalog of high-quality music.

And... I just like making music.

Lead Salad – Andromeda

Dead Birds Adore Us

Formed in 2010, Dead Birds Adore Us was a Psychedelic Progressive Hard Rock group from Indianapolis, Indiana, which earned a local reputation as a "Musician's Band" with complex tunes and visually intense concerts. I played guitar in the band, helped compose the music, and managed the production and release of the band's full-length debut album. I also acted as the Band Manager, Webmaster, Digital Marketer, Videographer and Social Media Wizard.

The songwriting for this band was a slow, experimental process. We start by improvising as a group until we discover an interesting musical idea. We then play that idea and any contrasting riffs repeatedly, sometimes for months, while refining the details and hashing out the song structure. Thus the "song writing" process is more appropriately described as "song discovery".

Our full-length album was recorded and mixed by Ryan Koch at Ark Barn Studio, and mastered by Jeremy Woods. We funded the manufacturing and digital distribution with a successful Kickstarter Campaign, and released the album in August 2014. The album is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and all other major streaming platforms.

The band split up in 2015 to pursue new opportunities.
